Clay Plaster Systems

The Marouf clay-systems catalogue covers base coats, fine finishing plaster and MUD HP modified clay plaster. These products serve different roles in a wall build-up, from levelling masonry to creating a natural-colour decorative finish. Select the formulation, substrate treatment and finish together for the intended interior or exterior application.

Three Product Types

• Base clay plaster: a levelling layer for prepared masonry and other compatible backgrounds. The presentation includes earth walls, stone, brick and aerated concrete, with reinforcement and primers selected for the substrate.
• Clay finishing plaster: a fine clay-and-sand decorative coat in natural colours. The dedicated sheet specifies a 2–5 mm application range and describes a formulation without hydraulic setting.
• MUD HP plaster: a modified product containing natural clay, selected hydraulic binders, volcanic dust, gypsum and performance additives. Its mixing, working time and curing instructions differ from those of the fine finishing plaster.

Colour and Surface Options

The base-coat chart shows white, ocher, pale yellow, red clay and copper references. Natural materials can vary in shade between batches; approve a sample panel for colour, texture and the final application method. The catalogue architectural images are design references and do not establish that Marouf supplied those projects.

MUD HP Catalogue References

The dedicated MUD HP sheet lists 30 kg bags, aggregate up to 1.5 mm, an approximate working life of 25–45 minutes and application thicknesses of 10–25 mm. It states 5–5.5 litres of clean water per 30 kg bag. Follow the current product sheet for mixing equipment, substrate preparation and curing.

Packaging and coverage figures differ between the general base-coat page and the detailed sheets. Request the exact reference and current consumption table before calculating quantities. Base-coat data, MUD HP data and finishing-coat data should not be combined into one specification.

Exposure and Documentation

Exterior clay finishes need suitable wall orientation, detailing and protection against persistent wetting. The catalogue notes that natural clay can swell or crack in heavy rain. Confirm the complete coating system and exposure suitability before selection. Fire, thermal and environmental requirements should be supported by documents for the named formulation and assembly; general brochure claims do not establish project certification.
